Fireflies in Greenville, South Carolina: first stop on the “Ultimate Summer Finish Shooting Schoolhouse Rocked Cross-Country Tour”. We’re not totally set on the name yet. Any suggestions?
Tomorrow morning you’ll get to hear from Aby Rinella on the Schoolhouse Rocked Podcast. She and Yvette will be discussing the unique opportunities homeschooling families have to get outside and learn about God’s creation. Tonight, our family is in Greenville, South Carolina and we got to experience this blessing first hand!
It has been wet and warm here, and the lightning bugs are just coming out. After a busy day, I was sitting down at my computer to get a bit of work done when I looked out the window and saw that there were fireflies everywhere. Our whole family went outside and caught dozens of them together. It was a blessing and an amazing opportunity to learn and explore together. Fireflies are one of my favorite displays of God’s creativity!
As the girls got ready for bed we talked about how we are creative because we are made in the image of the MASTER CREATOR. God is a great artist and His Word reveals that he esteems creativity and skill in man. When we create beauty we are reflecting the creativity of God.
“The Lord said to Moses, “See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs, to work in gold, silver, and bronze, in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, to work in every craft. And behold, I have appointed with him Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. And I have given to all able men ability, that they may make all that I have commanded you:” Exodus 31:1-6 (ESV)
“…but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power.” Hebrews 1:2,3 (ESV)
Soli Deo gloria!
