Detroit track coach charged with sexual assault of student

DETROIT, Mich. — “A now-former track coach and teacher at Detroit’s East English Village Academy is accused of sexually assaulting one of his male student athletes.
Nathan Lemuel Tedford, 54, of Detroit, is charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.
The victim is 18, Worthy’s office said. The assault is believed to have taken place at Tedford’s home on May 29.
“Tedford was the victim’s teacher and coach at the time of the crime. The defendant is now a former track coach at East English Village Academy,” the office wrote in a June 18 news release.” - Detroit Free Press
“The Detroit Public Schools Community District website listed Tedford as an athletic coordinator at East English Village Preparatory Academy.
"‘When the District became aware of the allegations against the employee we immediately removed him from his school and placed him on paid administrative leave,’ Chrystal Wilson, the district's assistant superintendent of communications marketing, said in a statement Wednesday. ‘Now that felony charges have been (filed), the employee has been placed on unpaid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.’
Tedford was arraigned Tuesday through the 36th District Court in Wayne County on charges of fourth-degree criminal sexual misconduct, force or coercion, which is a felony.” - The Detroit News
