CINCINNATI, Oh. — “A former St. Xavier High School employee who admitted to having an inappropriate relationship with a student was sentenced to three years in prison Tuesday. Emily Nutley will also have to register as a Tier III sex offender for the rest of her life.”

St. Xavier is a private Jesuit high school in Cincinnati, Ohio. From the schools website: “St. Xavier High School, founded in 1831, is a Catholic college preparatory school for young men conducted by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). Students enrolled at St. Xavier reside in all areas of greater Cincinnati, including northern Kentucky and southeastern Indiana. The student body is approximately 80 percent Roman Catholic. The remaining 20 percent of students includes other Christian denominations and the Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, and Islamic faiths. The student body is 21% racially and ethnically diverse.”

“Emily Nutley was reportedly a supervisor for a program intended to help struggling students with academics, but began a relationship with one of the students in the program in late 2023, despite the student only being 17 years old at the time.”

“Nutley was indicted on six counts of sexual battery but only pleaded guilty to two counts in April.”

“At the time of Nutley's indictment, Hamilton County Prosecutor Melissa Powers said Nutley performed oral sex on the teen on and off campus and had sex with him after school hours in her office. She allegedly sent sexually explicit messages and nude photos.”

“Newly released court documents said that she groomed the victim by paying him a $100 allowance per month, giving him answers to a test before he took it, and when the victim tried to break up with her, she threatened to kill herself. Her attorney said she has mental health and substance abuse issues and has already voluntarily entered a program designed for people adjudicated for sexually harmful and problematic behaviors and is on track to complete the program in 2027.”

“The victim's mother said her son's junior and senior years turned into two years of “hell and shame,” and this crime ruined who he was. The victim's father was emotional reading his statement, saying they chose St. X because they thought he’d be safe.”

“The State Board of Education has already revoked Nutley's license.”
