Iowa substitute teacher, club administrator charged with sexual exploitation of a student

MARSHALLTOWN, IA — “A former Marshalltown High School substitute teacher and club administrator who previously served as the dean of students before retiring from that role in 2023 has turned himself in on charges that he had inappropriate contact with a student, according to a press release issued by the Marshalltown Police Department on Thursday afternoon.”
“On April 16, the MPD initiated an investigation into the complaint of a teacher possibly having inappropriate contact with a student. Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that the school employee, a part-time substitute teacher and club administrator, did have inappropriate contact with a student.”
“Daniel Terrones, 63, of Marshalltown was arrested on Thursday when he turned himself in at the MPD. Terrones was charged with sexual exploitation by a school employee, a Class D felony.”
“‘The defendant knowingly engaged in a pattern or practice or scheme of conduct through excessive touching, resulting in a kiss of a student he was in a position of authority above. The defendant routinely contacted the victim via text messages and routinely hugged the victim,’ a criminal complaint reads.”
