Andrew Kern – “3 Basic Skills”

Andrew Kern – “3 Basic Skills”

“So the three basic skills that we have to be teaching then are our first, attention – how to pay attention, and how to do it for a long time, remembering that paying attention doesn’t mean being manipulated to attend to, you know, to hyper stimulate the senses, so you can’t escape. That’s not paying attention. Attention means to “stretch toward” something. It involves the will. And then there’s there’s memory, and there’s imitation. And if you can teach children how and what to imitate and how and what to memorize and to pay attention, which is what imitation and and memory depend on, then you’re on your way. You’re doing what is most important for your child, especially if you’re focused on the, true the good, and the beautiful.”
