We couldn’t be more excited to announce that WE ARE DONE FILMING!!
On June 8, we ventured off on a 10 day trip across the country to meet up with Heidi St. John, her family, and their team at the Firmly Planted Homeschool Resource Center in Vancouver, Washington.
Our time there was incredibly successful as we finished filming the rest of Schoolhouse Rocked with Heidi and her crew. Though we had already filmed the majority of the interviews for the movie, we still needed to film a narrative that would weave throughout the film. Together, Heidi and I were able to tell that story and it couldn’t have gone better. If you’ve ever heard Heidi speak, or listened to her podcast, you know that she is passionate about the Gospel and homeschooling, and is an excellent communicator. She was God’s perfect provision for this very important part of the movie.
After filming in Washington, we headed south to California to spend some much needed time with family and friends. What a blessing it has been to reconnect and share with so many how faithful the Lord has been over the past 3 years as we’ve worked on, and now finished, production on the movie. We serve a VERY faithful God!!

THE NEED
The Lord has been gracious and faithful to provide throughout production (filming)! We now have an URGENT NEED! We need to complete post-production and put this movie in theaters and into the hands of parents who need an alternative to traditional schools. They need hope and help, and they need to know that they CAN HOMESCHOOL! Schoolhouse Rocked will also provide reassurance to those, like many of you, who are already homeschooling and need encouragement to keep going.
BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Schoolhouse Rocked is not our movie. It’s a project by and for the homeschool community, and it’s all for God’s glory. We are confident that He will use this important resource to grow the homeschooling community and impact families around the world. However, if we are not able to raise the necessary funds to get through post-production, all progress on the movie will stop.
In order to complete this film with excellence, we need the help of the homeschooling community… we need YOU! The post-production budget for the film is $198,157. The majority of that budget still needs to be funded, so we are asking you to pledge monthly for the next 12 months to help us reach this goal. As a community we can finish this movie! I received the following message recently from one of our prayer warriors, and in our weariness and exhaustion, it couldn’t have come at a better time…
“I cannot wait to sit at the premiere of Schoolhouse Rocked and watch all that God has done through your family’s faithfulness. And I don’t care if it takes 10 years, because when God does something, it’s more than we could ever imagine.
I cannot wait, then, to look around our culture and see parents who are desperately wanting a way out, and parents who don’t even know yet that they need a way out, being impacted by the encouragement from this movie!
