  • Classical Conversations Partners with Southeastern University for Master’s Degree Program for Parents

“I would like to thank the Schoolhouse Rocked for hosting this important announcement from Classical Conversations to classical homeschoolers around the world. Schoolhouse Rocked and CC have been great partners for many years, and we are so excited for the documentary they are putting together and the journey that have been traveling.” – Robert Bortins, Many people who homeschool give up income and careers for their children. Some manage to work full- or part-time, but the vast majority exchange income and validation by society for their children. These moms (and some dads) are focused on their kids and often don’t think about what they will do after they launch their last child.…

  • Equipping the Next Generation to Transform Culture

“We found ourselves in a situation where we were at this impasse where we realized that our kids were being discipled away from us. Because whenever there is influence, whenever there is training, whenever there was teaching, there was discipleship.” – Meeke Addison Yvette Hampton recently had the opportunity to interview Meeke Addison for The Schoolhouse Rocked Podcast about the importance of preparing our children for the ongoing culture war. Meeke Addison is the Assistant Director of Special Initiatives at the American Family Association and co-host of Airing the Addisons on AFR. Her work with AFA began in 2007 as a stay-at-home mom in Louisiana. Since then she has primarily…

  • You Can Teach Math at Home!

I know how intimidating the thought of teaching math at home can be. When our family began homeschooling over 9 years ago, my greatest fear was having to teach math to my girls. And I don’t say that lightly. When I was in school, which was quite a long time ago, math was my most dreaded subject. So, naturally, I didn’t look forward to the idea of teaching it. Afterall, how could I teach the very subject I struggled with the most? (There’s a reason I frequent the calculator on my iPhone!)  In spite of my original terror at the thought of having to teach math at home I have great news for…

  • “Schoolhouse Rocked will rock your educational world to the foundations and give you and your kids great hope for the future! The old-school paradigm has proven broken and a new way of learning is here. Don’t miss this important film!” Kirk Cameron, Actor and Producer “Schoolhouse Rocked is the movie this confused, convicted, unconfident mother wishes had been available to watch from the first moment I considered homeschooling.  This film addresses most every area of doubt and insecurity that a Christian parent faces when tossing around the idea of exiting the public school system.  It lays those doubts to rest and I walked away feeling a renewed joy and confidence…

  • An Investment in Eternity

One of the greatest privileges of being a part of this ministry is getting to hear how God is using Schoolhouse Rocked to impact families. While it is always encouraging to hear about hearts being changed now, it is humbling to consider that the real impact of the ministry will reverberate for generations – and truly into eternity. You see, when parents are encouraged to take back the hearts of their children and train them in TRUTH, it doesn’t just yield immediate benefits, but many of those children will follow in their parents’ footsteps and raise their children to be set apart, warriors for the Gospel. This is the start of a…

  • TANSTAAFL: No Free Lunch!

My favorite economist, Thomas Sowell, would often quote Milton Friedman, saying “there’s no such thing as a free lunch.” The thing is, before Milton Friedman popularized this as a common economic term, Robert Heinlein used its more colloquial version, “there ain’t no such thing as a free lunch” or “TANSTAAFL” as a central theme in his novel The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress. But even before Heinlein, the term had been used in literature and everyday parlance since at least the 1930s. So, I guess it would be best described as a “meta-quote.” TANSTAAFL certainly applies when we’re talking about “school choice.” The great lure of school choice programs is the “free money,”…
